On Season 9 of Love & Hip Hop New York, the light shines on Anais Martinez and her marriage. The Dominican-born Latin music singer shot to fame in 2006 when she won the Puerto Rican reality competition “Objetivo Fama” and released her debut album ‘Asi Soy Yo’ (This Is the Way I Am), which was nominated at the 2006 Latin Grammys for “Best Pop Vocal Album.”
She released her second Spanish-language album in 2007, and talked about recording her third album in English, but that hasn’t come to fruition yet. And yes, Anais is frustrated. But not just as a musician. She tells her husband Ruben Martinez, the father of her two young sons, that she’s frustrated with her domestic life too. She loves her kids but “they’re a lot of work.” When Anais complains, Ruben asks, “So, you want me to stop working?”
Ruben Martinez, who is 52 (18 years older than Anais), is the owner of M&P Foreign Cars in Hawthorne, New Jersey, where he sells used cars including Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lamborghini. He doesn’t lease cars but he does provide financing. Love & Hip Hop New York airs Mondays at 8 pm on VH1.
