The Voice coach Jennifer Hudson has two artists competing on the Top 8 live show – 20-year-old MaKenzie Thomas and 13-year-old Kennedy Holmes. Last week, for her Top 10 performance, Kennedy, who usually sings big dramatic diva songs like Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love of All”, took a risk singing the pop song “Me Too” by Meghan Trainor. It worked, she advanced, but for the Top 8, Kennedy is returning to her diva roots and performing “This Is Me” from the musical movie The Greatest Showman.

The character in The Greatest Showman who sings the song “This Is Me” is Lettie Lutz, the Bearded Lady of the circus, portrayed by Keala Settle. The director, Michael Gracey, says “This Is Me” is the anthem of the show. When Lettie/Keala sings the lyrics: “I’m not scared to be seen/ I make no apologies, this is me,” there isn’t a dry eye in the house. If you weren’t moved by Kennedy’s performance of the song, watch The Greatest Showman star Hugh Jackman cry during Keala’s rehearsal of “This Is Me” in the film below. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
