On the third Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island episode “Breakdown to Breakthrough,” the couples are encouraged to be vulnerable with one another and to talk to about their pasts. While Tyler and Isabella continue to hit it off, Kimber and Shannon continue not to be on the same page. When Kimber tells him, “I feel most cared about when I’m told I’m cared about,” Shannon says, ‘Words don’t really do it for me.” And when Brandin tells Jona, “There’s a time and place for physical affection,” he’s quick to say, “I still kiss my dad on the lips.” Later, Brandin tells the camera, “That’s weird.”

It isn’t common to see an American man kissing his father on the lips but is it really weird? Remember when Americans were weirded-out when former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham posted a photo of her kissing her 5-year-old daughter Harper? Clinical psychologist Samantha Rodman defended Beckham and her husband soccer star David Beckham (who also kisses Harper on the lips, see below) by announcing, “it’s fine to kiss your kids on the lips, obviously.” Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on Lifetime, right before Marriage at Fight Sight: Happily Ever After.
