One month before Election Day, 60 Minutes is airing an interview with Lesley Stahl and President Donald Trump. She asks him about his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. When she asks if he trusts Kim Jong Un, Trump says yes. When Stahl asks why, he replies, “Well, first of all, if I didn’t trust him, I wouldn’t say that to you.” He says that would be foolish. The producers then slice a video of Trump addressing a crowd saying he and Kim Jong Un “fell in love,” and that “He wrote me beautiful letter.” He repeats “We fell in love.”
When Stahl reads Kim Jong Un’s resume which includes slave labor and public executions, among many other things, Trump says, “I know all these things. I mean – I’m not a baby. I know all these things.” When Stahl reminds Trump that he loves Jong Un, Trump says, “That’s just a figure of speech.” He also points out that there are “no more threats.” 60 Minutes airs Sundays at 7:30pm on CBS.
