In the Season 9 premiere of Blue Bloods, “Playing With Fire,” Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) learns that drug cartel member Louis Delgado aka The Panther (Lou Diamond Phillips) is the one responsible for torching his house. Danny asks his sister Erin (Bridget Moynahan) — who just got a promotion in the DA’s office — for help with his investigation. She also has to deal with her co-worker Samar “Sam” Chatwal who has his eye on the open DA seat.
Samar Chatwal on Blue Bloods is portrayed by comedian Aasif Mandvi. The former regular contributor on The Daily Show is known for his roles on A Series of Unfortunate Events (Uncle Monty), Shut Eye (Paz), Younger (Jay Malick), The Brink (Rafiq), Jericho (Dr. Kenchy Dhuwalia), ER (Manish), The Bedford Diaries (Kamil Sharif), and CSI (Dr. Leever), among others. Mandvi is also recognized for his roles in the films Drunk Parents with Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek (Nigel), A Kid Like Jake with Claire Danes (Darren), and Mother’s Day with Kate Hudson and Jennifer Aniston (Russell, see photo below), among others. Blue Bloods airs Fridays at 10pm on CBS, right after Hawaii Five-0.
