During the auditions for Season 13 of America’s Got Talent, the world met country singer Brody Ray. The young man from Nebraska sang an emotional rendition of the song “Stand in the Light” by Jordan Smith (winner of The Voice, Season 9). He received a standing ovation, and shared with the audience and judges that he “started out different from most.” Brody was born female. After his audition, Brody said it was Howie Mandel‘s feedback that stuck out the most. He told Brody, “You are standing in the light.” Brody will likely carry Simon Cowell‘s feedback to heart, too. Simon told Brody to sing your own material.
After filming his AGT audition, Brody released his single “Wake Your Dreams” (see link above). He even has the words “Wake Your Dreams” tattooed across his chest! See photo below. New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
