In the 2015 episode of Bar Rescue, “Vulgar Vixens,” Jon Taffer travels to Dearborn Heights, Michigan to check out The Hooch. The foul-mouthed owner Chandra Phillips repeatedly calls her bartenders (who sometimes go topless) sluts, which she says are “terms of endearment.” Phillips explains, “The more I do it, the less that it will irritate them when somebody else does it.” When Taffer calls her out on it, Phillips says no one has ever told her that she’s offensive. However, she does admit that some customers have called her a bitch — which she interrupts as just “bar talk.” Taffer calls her “delusional,” among other things. When Taffer arrives at The Hooch, the bar is facing a debt of $350,000.

Taffer sticks around to renovate and re-brand The Hooch as Proving Ground Bar & Grill. But in 2016, the bar closed and the property was reportedly sold. On a personal note, according to Chandra’s Facebook page, she’s still cursing and still married to her husband Ron. New episodes of Bar Rescue air Sundays at 10pm on Paramount Network.
