The #1 talent TV competition in the United States is called America’s Got Talent but there aren’t any American judges on the show (Howie Mandel is Canadian) and many of the contestants on Season 13 weren’t born in the U.S. either. During the sixth and final night of auditions, a young and talented 12-year-old singer named Angel Garcia sings in Spanish.

This isn’t Angel’s first time on prime-time TV either. He was a contestant on La Voz Kids (the Spanish-speaking version of The Voice in 2014), the same year former AGT contestant Angelina Green competed. For his America’s Got Talent audition, Angel sings the former #1 Mexican song “El Triste” (translated “The Sad One”). Mexican singer José José was the first to sing the song (representing Mexico) at the 1970 Latin Song Festival II. Everyone was shocked that José José didn’t win the competition (he came in third) but the song is on his third studio album and became a #1 hit. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
