In the Bar Rescue episode “Loose Lips Loose Tips,” Jon Taffer travels to Downtown San Francisco, California to check out The Holding Company. In April 2014, four sisters (Danielle, Leona, Marissa and Natalie Browne) from Dublin, Ireland bought the 40-year-old bar from the owner who couldn’t make any money with the bar located at Embarcadero Center. The sisters poured all of their savings into the place and they too struggle to make money. When Taffer arrives, the Browne sisters are losing $6,000/month and are carrying a total of $600,000 in debt.
Taffer helped the Browne sisters re-brand The Holding Company into Patriot House, an American gastropub, which three years later, has held on to the new name, look and menu. They’re still serving Jefferson Deviled Eggs, flipping Lady Liberty Turkey Burgers, and pouring Grant’s Elixir and Taft’s Crowd Pleaser, among other popular cocktails.
