During the fourth round of auditions for America’s Got Talent Season 13, the cameras followed an adorable 15-year-old singer named Amanda Mena. Backstage, the teenager with braces explained that she was born in the Dominican Republic and when she came to the U.S. (Lynn, Massachusetts), she was bullied in school for being different. She said she found relief in music. Encouraged by her mother, Amanda kept singing. On the America’s Got Talent stage, for her audition, Amanda sang the song “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” – written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin, made famous by Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul.

Amanda received a standing ovation from the audience and the AGT judges. “I’m blown away with her beautiful voice,” said Heidi Klum. “You have genuine natural soul,” music producer Simon Cowell told Amanda. He added, “This is one audition we will remember for a long time.” Mel B helped commemorate the audition by hitting her golden buzzer. Amanda now has some free time now: getting the golden buzzer means she’s going straight to the Live Shows which start in August. In July, Amanda will get her driver’s license! New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
