During the first round of auditions on America’s Got Talent, Season 13, the judges (Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel) will be amazed by card magician Shin Lim. The sleight-of-hand expert lives in Boston, Massachusetts, where he originally went to college for piano performance. But midway through school, Shin experienced carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands and because of that he decided to pursue magic. Shin Lim says music has influenced his magic. He can synchronize his magic to music! He also takes a hint from Teller of Penn & Teller by not speaking during his act, adding an extra touch of mystery.

Shin Lim did once perform before Penn & Teller on their show “Fool Us.” See below. After Shin’s performance, Penn told him: “I believe that’s the only use of smoke I’ve seen in a magic trick that was sincerely beautiful.” He also provided a critique. “We caught a couple of tricks that you did” and if you see one, “then it all crumbles and it needs to be perfect or not at all.” That said, Penn admitted, in the end “It was perfect,” and that Shin did ultimately fool Penn and Teller. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
