Basketball superstar Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors has distinguished himself on and off the court. The two-time NBA MVP and two-time NBA Champion has etched his name in the NBA record books for offensive excellence, including the single season record for 3-pointers made, some of which he shoots from so far out they ought to count for 4 points. Off the court, Curry is an advertiser’s dream — charming, principled, dedicated, a family man, yet also an everyman. Curry, at 6’2″, looks like he might just be a pretty good player at the local YMCA until he steps on the court. (That’s not the case with his 6’11” teammate Kevin Durant, for instance.)
Curry’s lucrative deals with Under Armour, JPMorgan, etc., were just a warm-up for his next act as Curry, like his MVP foil LeBron James, has his sights set on dominating Hollywood. Curry just announced a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment, which gave Curry’s new production company a long-term contract to develop content for film and TV. Curry’s production company is called UNANIMOUS Media. It’s a name LeBron and that other former MVP-turned-entertainment-mogul Kobe Bryant will remember. Because UNANIMOUS represents yet another Curry NBA record: for his scintillating performance in 2016 Stephen Curry was named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player by a unanimous vote, nabbing all 131 first-place votes cast. Curry is the only player in NBA history — including LeBron, Kobe, and even Michael Jordan — who has the distinction of being unanimously voted NBA MVP.
