Tony Parker beat himself during Game 4 of the Spurs first round matchup against the Golden State Warriors. Parker used to hold half the record for most NBA playoff wins by a teammate duo — Parker and retired future Hall-of-Famer Tim Duncan won 131 playoff games together. On Thursday the Parker-Duncan duo was surpassed by Parker-Ginobili, as the longtime Spurs teammates captured their 132nd playoffs win as teammates.
You know who’s third on the list? The duo of Duncan and Ginobili! If you get the impression that the NBA has been a Spurs sort of place for a couple of decades, you’re not alone. Across the divide, the young 76ers — put together through the laborious “Process” — are looking at that record with ambition. NBA youngsters Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, Robert Covington and Markelle Fultz of Philadelphia have won 3 playoff games together so far on a team that has been assembled for the long haul. Just 129 playoff wins to go.
With the @spurs Game 4 victory, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker (132) have become the winningest duo in #NBAPlayoffs History.
