Country singer Layla Spring has made it to the Top 24 on American Idol. And Layla’s going to go further if she continues to listen and take the advice of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. For her Top 24 solo performance Layla showed a more emotional side when she sang the Martina McBride song “A Broken Wing.” (The song is about a woman escaping from an emotionally abusive relationship.) The judges were impressed. For her Celebrity Duet, Layla has been paired with Sugarland (Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush), and she couldn’t be more excited.

When Jennifer Nettles meets Layla she says she can’t believe how cute Layla is. Layla did show up wearing a cute off-the-shoulder pink and blue polka dot outfit. Jennifer says of Layla: “She is such a joy. And she is so shining – it’s infectious.” Together they sing the 2010 Sugarland song “Stuck Like Glue” from their The Incredible Machine album (see link above). Layla says she grew up listening to the song “my whole life.” That sounds about right as Layla is just 16 years old! Nettles and Bush co-wrote the song with Kevin Griffin and Shy Carter. Nettles describes it as “lighthearted and sassy and just a great fit for us.” American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
