The new ABC medical drama The Good Doctor follows the life of a young autistic surgeon named Shaun Murphy, who has savant syndrome. He leaves his rural life to join St. Bonaventure Hospital. While he has a difficult time connecting with people, his skill and intuition help save lives.
Shaun Murphy is portrayed by Freddie Highmore. The English actor is known for his roles on Bates Motel (Norman Bates), Close to the Enemy (Victor Ferguson), and in the films Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Charlie Bucket), and Finding Neverland (Peter Llewelyn Davies), among others. The Good Doctor airs Mondays at 10pm on ABC.
