The Voice coach Jennifer Hudson is making a number of interesting song choices for her team, which is apparent during the Battle Rounds. She (and guest coach Kelly Rowland, founding member of Destiny’s Child) have Kathrina Feign and Chris Weaver singing Adriana Grande‘s “Dangerous Woman,” which you would think would give Kathrina an advantage (because it’s usually sang by a female). But then she gives Lucas Holliday and Meagan McNeal the challenge of singing the “new jack swing” song by Bobby Brown, “My Prerogative.” Have you ever heard of anyone else singing the song with the swagger of Bobby Brown?

During rehearsals, the 26-year-old cashier from Michigan Lucas and single mom from Chicago Meagan were wildly excited to see Rowland in the studio. Lucas said something like “I can’t believe I’m in the same room with two divas,” which provoked Meagan to correct him, “You mean three divas.” Meagan can hit tricky notes (she sang The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” for her Blind Audition) but so can Lucas who sang the complex Kate Bush/Maxwell song “This Woman’s Work.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
