For Season 13 of The Voice, country music star Blake Shelton has his friends Rascal Flatts as guest coaches to help him get Team Blake ready for the Battle Rounds. The three-man band from Columbus, Ohio got their start in 1999, the year they released their eponymous debut album. The same year dancer/actress Jennifer Lopez released her album On the 6 featuring her hit song “If You Had My Love.” At that time, JLo was dating P. Diddy. 18 years later she’s dating former New York Yankees World Series champion Alex Rodriguez.

What do JLo and A-Rod have in common with Rascal Flatts? Other than a funny post on Instagram by Rascal Flatts member Jay DeMarcus, probably nothing. In September, when A-Rod volunteered his time to answer phones for the Day of Giving on Good Morning America, Rascal Flatts were there too, answering phones, right behind A-Rod. Jay DeMarcus wrote: “I guess you’ve made it when you make it into JLo’s timeline” and “I’m sure she posted this because Gary and I are in this and NOT because ARod is.” You can expect to see and hear more of their good humor on The Voice, which airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC. P.S. Rascal Flatts’ latest album is Back to Us.
