On the Season 8 finale of Undercover Boss, celebrity chef and restaurateur Marcus Samuelsson goes undercover to look for a good few chefs to mentor. He finds them at a public cooking class, a high-end food truck, and a soup kitchen.

Samuelsson was born in Ethiopia in the early 1970s during the Ethiopian Civil War. He and his siblings were adopted by a couple in Sweden, where his name was changed from Kassahun Tsegie to Marcus Samuelsson. He was inspired to cook by his maternal grandmother in Sweden. He came to the U.S. (to New York City) in 1991 as an apprentice at the Scandinavian restaurant Aquavit where he became executive chef at the age of 24. He became the youngest chef ever to receive a three-star restaurant review from The New York Times. He and his model wife Gate Haile live in Harlem near his restaurant Red Rooster.
