Donald Trump had to blame somebody and he elected not to emphasize his own party on its failure to push his healthcare bill through congress. The bill, sometimes called TrumpRyanCare because it had the support of the two most powerful men in Washington (the President and the Speaker of the House), was pulled. Trump pushed hard for H.R. 1628 — as the Affordable Care Act replacement was formally known. WH Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Trump “left it all on the field” fighting for the bill.
Trump said he was foiled not by a split GOP, but by intransigent Democrats:
“We had no votes from the Democrats. They weren’t going to give us a single vote, so it’s a very very difficult thing to do,” Trump said. “I think the losers are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because now they own Obamacare — 100% own it.”
