Sen. Bernie Sanders has been a vocal leader in the Democratic resistance to President Trump‘s policies across the board — from immigration to health care. But after the ACA replacement bill, H.R. 1628, was pulled on Friday Sanders found something he and Trump agree on: the Democrats are responsible. Trump called the Democratic leadership, a minority in both houses, “the losers” saying:
“We had no votes from the Democrats. They weren’t going to give us a single vote, so it’s a very very difficult thing to do,” Trump said. “I think the losers are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because now they own Obamacare — 100% own it.”
Sanders agreed, telling CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the “Democrats should take credit for killing a really, really bad piece of legislation.” The big difference is that Sanders would characterize Trump’s “losers” as heroes. What for? For representing the people’s interest. Polls showed the TrumpRyanCare bill was largely unpopular across party lines.
