On the My Big Fat Fabulous Life episode ‘How Low Can Whit Go?’, Whitney Way Thore goes to her rival Jiya’s dance class. Jiya stops the class to announce (while looking at Whitney) “No one is above going down.” Whitney says, “I am because I have a knee problem. So, I won’t be getting down.” Jiya doesn’t buy it. She asks, “Are you sure? It’s a knee problem?” Whitney says she’s sure. Jiya asks if Whitney has a medical note. “No, and I don’t need one,” says Whitney. “Next time bring a medical note,” yells Jiya.
After the dance class Whitney tells the camera, “Jiya seems to be about tearing down other people, being better than other people. I would never treat my students that way.” After the class, Whitney admits, “I’m completely humiliated.” (Anyone who ever felt humiliated, btw, should know this Eleanor Roosevelt quote.) However, after the class Whitney hugs Jiya and invites her to her class. My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Tuesdays at 9pm on TLC.
