The My 600-lb Life episode “Diana’s Story” features 55-year-old Diana Bunch of Seattle, Washington. Like most people on the show, Diana wasn’t always obese. According to her LinkedIn account, up until 2011 Diana was working at a women’s and children’s shelter run by Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. But now, weighing more than 600 lbs. as shown on My 600-lb Life, Diana needs six EMT workers to get her out of her sister’s car and into her hotel room. She’s on her way to see Dr. Nowzaradan in Houston, Texas. Diana says if she had known how difficult traveling would be, she probably wouldn’t have done it. “I didn’t realize how handicapped I am,” she says.
Diana has remained active on social media, particularly when it comes to helping others. On Twitter, she tweeted that going to Malawi with Project Peanut Butter was on her bucket list. (Project Peanut Butter delivers ready-to-use therapeutic food aka “peanut butter” to malnourished families in Africa). Hopefully after her bypass surgery, Diana will be able to fulfill that wish. My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
