Landen Lucas is the 23-year-old senior center on the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball team. He played every sport his mom could put in front of him as a child and he spent several years of his childhood in Japan where his father Richard Lucas (University of Oregon) played professional basketball. Landen’s mother Shelley Lucas says her son was “well bred with height and athleticism.” Shelley is 6 feet tall and her husband Richard is 6’7″. She coached Landen’s first three basketball teams, Richard coached his fourth team.
Now as the proud mother of a NCAA star, Shelley keeps a blog about what she and Landen’s father have learned during their NCAA journey. It’s called Sideline Sports Mom. When Kansas takes on the Red Raiders of Texas Tech on Saturday, January 7 at 7:15pm on ESPN2, Shelley will be there on the sideline. You can’t miss her — she’s the 6′ tall blonde!
