Sen. Bernie Sanders liked what he heard from President-elect Donald Trump when Trump addressed big pharma during his recent press conference. Sanders and Trump often align when it comes to things like reinforcing the American workforce with jobs and rolling back some of the predatory practices of big business. A sector on both Trump’s and Sanders’ naughty lists is pharmaceuticals.
[Sanders’ new book is called Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In]
“Pharma has a lot of lobbies, a lot of lobbyists and a lot of power,” Trump said. “We’re the largest buyer of drugs in the world, and yet we don’t bid properly. And we’re going to start bidding and save billions of dollars.” Sanders said Trump was right. “Pharma does get away with murder,” Sanders said. “Literally murder. People die because they can’t get the prescription drugs they need.”
