The new TV series Pitch is about Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), the first woman to play Major League Baseball. The young and talented pitcher has to make a lot of adjustments now that she’s a San Diego Padre. For starters, she has to get dressed in the clubhouse attendant’s room — but as coach Al “Skip” Luongo (Dan Lauria) says, “at least it has a door.” Ginny doesn’t mind. Especially after she’s given the number 43, “one up from Jackie.”
Baker’s catcher Mike Lawson is portrayed by Mark-Paul Gosselaar. He’s known for his roles on Truth Be Told (Mitch), CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (Paul Winthrop), Franklin & Bash (Peter Bash), Raising the Bar (Jerry Kellerman), Commander in Chief (Richard “Dickie” McDonald), NYPD Blue (Detective John Clark, Jr.), and last but not least Saved by the Bell (Zack Morris). Pitch airs Thursdays at 9pm on FOX.
