Beth Stern has helped transform the raucous bad boy of radio into the still-not-quite-gentle giant of the interview. But her work with hubby Howard Stern pales in comparison to her work on behalf of homeless cats. Beth Stern is so dedicated to her furry friends that when she can’t use her powerful social network to find a home for one, she brings it home herself. The Sterns reportedly have more than 200 cats living with them. (It’s still not crowded; Howard Stern’s half-billion net worth provides ample space for felines to roam.)
Beth Stern has seen great success getting her pet message across in fun publicity stunts like her televised Kitten Bowl, which coincides with a certain big football game in February. Now she’s taking advantage of another giant sports telecast — the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio — to broadcast another of her kitty extravaganzas: the Kitten Summer Games on Hallmark Channel. On the one hand it’s silly. On the other hand, a tiny cat that can leap on top of the refrigerator makes human high jumpers look pretty pedestrian by comparison. The Kitten Summer Games airs on Hallmark on Friday, August 5 at 8/7c. Beth Stern is the National Spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America.
