During the third night of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, vice-presidential nominee and Indiana Governor Mike Pence will give his acceptance speech. Other speakers include former presidential candidate Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Newt Gingrich, and two women including former astronaut Eileen Collins.
Colonel Collins was the first female pilot and first female commander of a Space Shuttle (Shuttle mission STS-93 which launched in July 1999). In 2013, Collins was inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. Collins has also been inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
