Oru Kayak, a collapsible kayak that can fold and fit in the back of a car, was pitched on Shark Tank in 2014. Robert Herjavec invested $500,000 into Oru for 25 percent equity. One of the big challenges for Oru is selling a product (a 12-foot long plastic boat) that has a pretty big sticker price — an Oru costs $1200. Since Shark Tank, Oru has teamed up with GetOutfitted, a catalog company that has started renting outdoor gear (tents, backpacks, snowshoes, etc.).

Oru Kayak approached GetOutfitted about offering their clients a rent-to-own deal so a payment to rent a Oru Kayak could go toward a credit to buy one. Renting a Oru Kayak for six days costs $150. Or you can buy Oru Kayak Bay Kayak flat-out at Amazon.
