The great makeup dustup of 2016 features cosmetics entrepreneurs Kat Von D and Jeffree Star, whose falling out has captured the attention of millions. The former friends are having their battle in public, with weapons called YouTube and Twitter. At the time of this post, Kat Von D had the last word posting a video — really more of a short film at 14 minutes — explaining her decision to “disassociate completely from [Jeffree Star] and his makeup line.” She says she doesn’t mean to “bash anybody” just before she says “the way that Jeffrey chooses to live his life and treat other people is not something that I personally agree with.”
The war seems long, but the battle now is focused on some allegedly unpaid design work by a talented graphic and tattoo artist named BJ Betts. Von D claims to have introduced her friend BJ to Star back when he launched his eponymous beauty brand back in 2014. Von D is now advocating for her friend BJ to get paid for work she says resulted in Star’s logo. To back up her story, Von D shows some original art purportedly done by BJ for the Star brand. (She doesn’t, however, show any contracts.) The distance between the two sides can be best expressed by the tweets below. But to visit artist BJ Betts on Twitter, you wouldn’t know a thing was wrong.
She accused me of something that wasn’t true, so I told her to fuck off and then blocked her number. Not that juicy of a story, sorry

This witch hunt mentality is so disturbing. @bjbetts and I are 100% fine. People here one little story and act like its a fact.
