Hillary Clinton used the one-year anniversary of the horrible shooting that killed nine people in a Charleston church to call for change. Linking the Charleston mass shooting to last week’s massacre in Orlando, Clinton wrote “an average or 90 people a day are killed by gun violence in our country.”
Clinton cited scripture in privileging love over the hate and intolerance regarded as motivation for both shootings. Without naming 1 Corinthians 13:7, source of her chosen verse, Clinton wrote:
“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things,” Scripture teaches us. “Love never fails.”
