In The Odd Couple episode ‘Chess Nuts,’ when Oscar (Matthew Perry) finds out that Felix (Thomas Lennon) was a chess prodigy as a child, he encourages his roommate to play again — but this time to make money. Felix’s girlfriend Emily (Lindsay Sloane) isn’t thrilled with Felix’s game. Ever since he started playing chess again, Felix has been acting strangely (mean). Along Felix’s chess warpath, he encounters Joshua Norwall.
Joshua Norwall is portrayed by Jim Rash. He’s best known for his recurring roles on Community (Dean Pelton) with The Odd Couple’s Yvette Nicole Brown, Glee (Lee Paulblatt), Reno 911! (Andrew), and That ‘70s Show (Fenton). Rash most recently appeared on Dr. Ken (lawyer Devon Drake, the lawyer who cross-examines “expert witness” Dr. Ken). Or maybe you recognize Rash from the 2012 Oscars. He’s the one who mocked Angelina Jolie on stage for that thigh-high slit pose. (Rash, Nat Faxon and Alexander Payne won Best Screenplay for The Descendants.) The Odd Couple airs Mondays at 9:30pm on CBS.
