On the Bar Rescue episode “Back to the Bar: The Luck of the Irish,” Jon Taffer revisits The Lister, which was formerly Park 77. Taffer added amenities like a dance floor and beer pong to The Lister to appeal to the younger college crowd in the neighborhood. The Lister is located near San Francisco State University. The new name attempts to tie itself to the University. Frederick Lister Burke was the first president of SFSU.

Not all of the co-owners were thrilled with Taffer’s changes. The Lister manager Angelo Basso said “the remodel sucks.” He’s taken everything down from the walls – all of the fun references to Lister — and brought back the bar’s infamous “porn couch.” Yes, a porn movie was made there at the bar — on the couch. On the “Back to the Bar” clip, sitting in a nearly empty bar, Angelo says the bar needs “a better concept.” Bar Rescue airs Sundays at 9pm on SPIKE.
