On the Black Ink Crew Season 4 premiere episode “Black Ink for Life!,” Ceaser reopens Black Ink in Harlem. He closed the shop for a few weeks in order to help Dutchess open her own shop in North Carolina. Reopening Black Ink isn’t as easy as Ceaser thought. While dealing with the fact that Puma opened a new shop down the street (Art2Ink), Ceaser also has to deal with the reappearance of O’Shit’s addiction and the possible regret of hiring new tattoo artist Melody.
Melody Mitchell was born and raised in Tampa, Florida. She said she had a violent childhood filled with “a lot of poverty.” She says, “I had trouble with drugs and alcohol and even sex was a problem for me at times.” The 27-year-old moved to New York three years ago to pursue her tattoo career. She’s going to have to get over people mistaking her for Dutchess – they both are light skinned and have dreadlocks. When asked why she decided to go on a reality TV show she said, “If this is a sacrifice I have to make to get myself out there and for people to look at my work, I’ll do it.” Black Ink Crew airs Mondays at 9pm on VH1.
