Warning: by the end of this story you may be ready to wave goodbye to any productivity for the rest of the day. Facebook has unveiled a cache of hidden messages for you that you never even knew about. When someone who is not friends with you on the social network sends you a message request, Facebook filters them (in the same way the spam folder in your email works). And much like your spam folder, some of the messages could be useful or interesting, not just offers to help you enlarge your penis or aid a Nigerian general’s widow in funneling millions of dollars.
The secret message inbox can be accessed by checking your message folder and clicking on “Message Requests,” and then clicking on “Filtered Messages.” I found several messages going back years, including a legitimate offer of a writing job (thanks for ‘filtering’ that, Facebook, way to go) and a reminder from a group I was in that it would soon be closing and changing to a page (I’ve been wondering on and off for ages why I haven’t been able to see that group). Good luck with the rest of your afternoon; comment below if you find anything interesting in your hidden messages.
