In October 2013, young, beautiful biomedical engineer Taylor Gould went out to celebrate her boyfriend’s birthday. Rahul Gupta was a biomedical engineer, too. The couple celebrated by going out with Gupta’s high school friend Mark Waugh, who was a freshman at Georgetown Law. All three returned to the studio apartment that Gupta and Taylor were sharing. Later that night, when the police arrived after a 911 call, Waugh was found stabbed to death. Gupta was charged with first-degree murder. At one point in his trial, Gupta blamed Gould for killing Waugh but the jury didn’t believe him. He was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
