Who Is Meredith’s First Patient Katie Bryce on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’?

In the Grey’s Anatomy episode “My Next Life,” Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) first surgical patient Katie Bryce returns to the hospital with a new aneurysm. Katie appeared on the 2005 Grey’s Anatomy pilot episode “A Hard Day’s Night.” The episode introduced the original interns portrayed by Sandra Oh, Katherine Heigl, TR Knight, Isaiah Washington, and Patrick Dempsey. (It was a hit. The episode was watched by 16.25 million Americans.)

The character of Katie Bryce was and is again portrayed by Skyler Shaye. The now 29-year-old actress from Los Angeles is known for her roles on Ray Donovan (Cindy) and in the cute 2007 film Bratz (Cloe). Prior to her Grey’s Anatomy debut, Shaye had a recurring role in the 2002 sitcom Family Affair with Tim Curry and Gary Cole. Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8pm on ABC.
