Deadpool is lending his name — unpaid for, as far as we know — to a badass chimichanga that lives up to its comic inspiration. Philadelphia’s own Cantina Dos Segundos said nothing more than “BEHOLD the #deadpool Poutine chimichanga!” (See below.) It’s enough of an introduction to cause commenters to ask if the unusual superhero‘s unusual chimichanga might be overnited to them.
Cantina Dos Segundos is definitely the kind of place with an attitude to match Deadpool deadpan. The restaurant’s Instagram proudly declares that the soup of the day is TEQUILA. Si, si, senor! The Deadpool chimichanga, BTW, is a poutine chimichanga. Poutine, a Canadian invention, is your doctor’s worst nightmare — and your 3am buzz’s best friend. It’s a combination of french fries and cheese curds covered in gravy. Philly’s Cantina Dos Segundos is way out in front of clever here. Originating in Quebec, poutine reportedly has 15 different food meanings in Quebecois, variations on the french fry theme. More than one reviewer has noted that Deadpool averages about 15 jokes a minute. It’s a beautiful match.
