Van Johnson is the big brother figure on the reality TV show Black Ink Crew Chicago. He’s one of the tattoo artists at Ryan Henry’s 9Mag. Growing up on the Southside of Chicago hasn’t been easy. Van has served time in jail before. And although he says his life changed when he became the father of his daughter Briyanah, he’s currently facing more time in jail. According to VH1, “Though Van has a new lease on life, the mistakes of his past still haunt him, and he is currently facing time in jail.”

According to the Chicago Tribune, in April 2014, Van M. Johnson, 30, threatened security guards outside a Near North Side nightclub with a loaded gun. When Johnson was asked by the guards to move his Camaro out of the valet parking lot, Johnson pulled a loaded .32-caliber gun from his car and threatened the security guards. Johnson was arrested and charged with three felony counts of aggravated assault. Black Ink Crew Chicago airs Mondays at 9pm on VH1.
