Pop diva Gwen Stefani, who recently separated from her husband Gavin Rossdale of 13 years, released a new music video for her song “Used To Love You.” It’s a sad song and the video is awkward to watch. It’s all Stefani up close and upset. Against a black backdrop, viewers watch Gwen and her expressive, glamorous face occasionally singing along to the painful lyrics. Part of the chorus goes: “I thought I was the best thing that ever happened to you / I thought you loved me the most.”

The “Used To Love You” video is reminiscent of the 1990 Sinead O’Connor video where she sang the Prince song Nothing Compares 2 U. Gwen doesn’t lip sync the whole song like O’Connor did, nor does she shed a tear. And at the end Gwen isn’t as mad as Sinead, but then again who is?
