In the small town of Mountain City, Tennessee, a young woman named Jenelle Potter got involved in a Facebook feud with Billy Payne and Billie Jean Hayworth. The young couple lived together with their 7-month-old son. In January 2012, Billy and Billie Jean were found dead (single gunshots to their faces) in their home. Jenelle was the first suspect. Her boyfriend Jamie Curd was the second. Her father Marvin Potter was the third. And her mother Barbara Potter was the fourth.

Prosecutors believe Jenelle made up a character, a CIA agent named Chris, who contacted Jamie and her parents and told them it was their “job to protect Jennelle at all costs” from those bullying her on Facebook. The agent told Marvin that his daughter’s life was in danger. The police found hundreds of emails on the Potters’ computer sent from the CIA agent Chris which all came from the same IP address as the home where the Potters lived. Prosecutors believe Jenelle was pretending to be Chris to fool her parents and to ultimately get her father to kill Billy and Billie Jean. ABC 20/20 will air its interview with Jenelle Potter, who was found guilty of first-degree murder, on October 9 at 10pm.
