Former US representative Mark Foley left Capitol Hill in 2006 after he was caught sexting to teenage boys who were working as Congressional pages. No criminal charges were filed. Foley later came out publicly as a gay man and pursued a career in the real estate business in Palm Beach.
For the past two years, Foley has been working as a lobbyist for the Major League Baseball team the Washington Nationals. He helped to secure a new spring-training facility for the team in his old congressional district of West Palm Beach. Construction will begin in the spring. The Nats will share it with the Houston Astros. Foley, now 62 years old, told the Washingtonian the new stadium is “a labor of love.” Foley added, “I think it will restore people’s faith in me, or at least get them to see me in a different light.”
