Standup comedian Jerrod Carmichael is starring in the new NBC comedy, The Carmichael Show. It’s inspired by his real life. On TV, Jerrod hesitates to tell his super opinionated parents (Loretta Devine and David Alan Grier) that he’s living with his girlfriend Maxine, who believes honesty is the best policy.

Maxine is portrayed by Amber Stevens West. Born and raised in Los Angeles (she graduated from Beverly Hills High!), Maxine is the daughter of Shadoe Stevens, the “America’s Top 40” disc jockey turned actor. (He was most recently the announcer of “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.”) Amber is best known for her role as Ashleigh Howard on Greek, where she met her husband, Andrew J. West (Fisher on Greek, Gareth on The Walking Dead, Pete Blackwell on Under the Dome). The Carmichael Show premieres August 26 at 9pm and 9:30pm on NBC.
