Android Auto promises a world of hands-free — if not quite distraction-free — driving. Now Hyundai has become the first automaker to deliver its promise to drivers. And Hyundai is delivering Android Auto not just in new vehicles — it’s also making the technology available for Sonata owners to install on their own. The do-it-yourself installation will take less than an hour, Hyundai says.
Hyundai Sonata owners who register at the MyHyundai owner’s portal can snag the software via USB, which can then be transferred to the Sonata (if it’s at least a 2015 model). The upgrade is also available at dealerships, free of charge.
