In 1998, Jackie Rodriguez learned that her 14-month-old son, Hunter, had been shaken so severely by his nanny that he was taken to the hospital. Like other victims of shaken-baby syndrome, Hunter was left with long-term, devastating brain damage. According to Jackie’s website, HopeForHunter, “Hunter was paralyzed on his left side, blind in both eyes and large parts of his brain were completely dead.”
[What Happened To Jackie’s Shaken-Baby Syndrome Son Hunter?]
Jackie fought for two years to have the nanny put in prison, and she was eventually given a five-year prison sentence. During that time, Jackie forgave the woman. Now Jackie wants to take care of herself. Since Hunter was shaken, Jackie has gained 100 pounds. She will receive the help of personal trainers Chris and Heidi Powell on Extreme Weight Loss (August 25, 8pm, ABC).
