American superstar Justin Gatlin, not Usain Bolt, posted the best 100 meter time of the year so far. Gatlin posted a blistering 9.74 mark in Doha in May.
But it’s the performance of Trayvon Bromell in Oregon this week that has track people shaking their heads in awe and thinking about what the future holds. At 9.84s, the 19-year-old Bromell outran fellow Americans Tyson Gay (9.88, Shanghai) and Mike Rodgers (9.90, Eugene), 4th and 5th in 2015 results respectively. The Baylor star Bromell had this to say, according to Chris Chavez, about his race: “Man, that’s crazy.” The pace makes Bromell the 10th fastest man ever.
