Robert Kraft, owner of Super Bowl champion New England Patriots, flew 20 former NFL stars to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The players — including Pro Football Hall of Famers Andre Tippett, Thurman Thomas and Curtis Martin — were in Israel to support Netanyahu’s opposition to the proposed US-brokered nuclear deal with Iran.
The players presented Netanyahu with a football helmet “for good defense.” Football metaphors abounded, as the Prime Minister said “Iran is one yard away from the goal line [obtaining nuclear weapons]… our effort today is to block them and push them back.”
