In March 2015, Bristol Palin, daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, announced her engagement to Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer. On Facebook, Mama Bear Palin announced that the wedding “will not be held.” However, friends and family of Meyer and Palin are still invited to get together that day (May 23) in Kentucky where the wedding was supposed to take place.
“Family members and close friends know they are welcome to share a great bar-b-que on the farm that day,” Sarah Palin wrote. “All involved, especially Dakota, Bristol and Tripp, and their parents and grandparents, thank supporters for the love they’ve expressed.”
