On March 19, 2015, a 26-year-old Colorado woman who was 7 months pregnant responded to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes. When she showed up at the stranger’s house, she was beaten and her stomach was cut open. Her baby girl was stolen and eventually died. (The mother survived.) Horrifyingly, this isn’t the first time this has happened.
In 2009, Korena Elaine Roberts lured a 21-year-old pregnant woman with a Craigslist ad for baby clothes to her home in Oregon. Roberts killed the expectant mother, cut the baby out of her stomach and claimed the baby as her own. (The fetus did not survive.) Weeks prior, Roberts had been lying to friends and family and her live-in boyfriend that she was pregnant. Roberts, like the suspect in the Colorado attack and murder, is the mother of two children.
