A 26-year-old woman in Colorado who was 7 months pregnant responded to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes. When she arrived at a Longmont home to pick up the clothes, the pregnant woman was beaten and her stomach was cut open. Her fetus–a baby girl–was stolen. The expectant mother was able to call 911, she survived.
The suspects, a 34-year-old woman named Dynel Catrece Lane and her husband, took the dead baby to the hospital–where they told doctors Lane had had a miscarriage. According to ABC News affiliate KMGH, “Lane reportedly holds an expired nurse’s aide license and has at least two other children.” Lane was arrested and is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse resulting in death. She will make her first appearance in court on Thursday, March 26. ABC’s 20/20 will explore the gruesome story on Friday, March 20, at 10pm.
