During the premiere of NBC’s mini-series The Slap, TV viewers went on Twitter to voice their frustration with the show. The show hinges on an incident when an adult slaps someone else’s child. The child is seen, by many, as an overprotected brat. The initial complaint was that the physical slap didn’t happen right away. Claire Downs wrote: “what if the actual slap doesn’t happen until season 2? 17 mins in u teasin us!”
And then anger set in. Viewer Mario Correa wrote: “My hope is that, every week, someone else in this family gets slapped.” Natt Garun agreed, “So far it seems like everyone on #TheSlap deserves to get slapped.” Brandon Scott turned his anger into comedy: “Spinoff idea: Guy falls asleep watching #TheSlap. Calling it ‘The Nap.’”
